Centra Companies was established in 2011 and is a dynamic and growing firm specializing in construction, real estate development, and financial markets. We have a robust portfolio that includes a home-building arm, property development, multi-family housing, and a new venture Capital Partners aimed at raising equity for real estate projects.


We are seeking an experienced VP of Real Estate Development to join our leadership team. This role involves leading the land acquisition, entitlement and development team.  Your team is responsible for finding assets to purchase, identifying the best use, entitling the property and developing it into a high-performing asset.  This role plays a critical part in formulating and executing the company's strategy.

  • A Relationship Builder: Our experienced VP of Real Estate Development will be responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with property owners, real estate agents, cities, your team, and other stakeholders. This person should be comfortable building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Knowledgeable in the Real Estate industry: Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of the land acquisition, entitlement and development process in real estate.  You are able to navigate complex situations and make informed decisions. You can see solutions where others see obstacles.
  • Strategic Thinker: The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who can develop and execute plans to acquire, entitle and develop land for Centra Companies. They should be able to anticipate roadblocks and proactively develop solutions.  We want Really Smart people.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Leadership:  You will lead and manage your team in executing the following responsibilities:
  • Acquisition: Build and maintain relationships with current and potential brokers, land sellers, and developers. Identify and research potential land acquisitions, including finished lots, raw land, and development opportunities. Negotiate purchase of land and work with attorneys on drafting purchase agreements and letters of intent.
  • Development Responsibilities:  Conduct due diligence to learn and understand the details of government approvals and the development process. Work with engineers on the concept plan to begin the design of streets, utilities, and watershed districts. Seek government approvals for new developments and work with city staff to create neighborhood plans
  • Marketing and Networking Responsibilities:  Network with other builders and developers to maintain market awareness. Understand land values and market conditions. Maintain inventory reports, contract files, maps, contract status reports, and periodical marketing analysis.
  • Financial Leadership: Oversee financial functions including budgeting and forecasting for your group. Work with experts to prepare pro forma and compare various opportunities that align with the companies’ strategic objectives against one another.  
  • Strategic Development:  Actively contribute to the strategic planning and execution of the company's vision.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate or related field; MBA, JD or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Real Estate experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in commercial or residential construction, real estate development, or related industries is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in financial management.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.


Salary: $150,000-$180,000

*This is an in person, full-time position. Must live within a 40-minute drive radius of Centra Companies and is able to work out of our office located in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Will consider out of state if candidate has a connection to the Mid-West*
