The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Senior Director of Alumni and Annual Giving for the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Advancement, the Senior Director of Alumni and Annual Giving is responsible for creating a long term-vision and strategy in building a sustainable and robust alumni and annual giving office.

Responsibilities

This position will direct all annual giving activities for the institute and lead the creation and implementation of programs, projects, and events that strategically engage alumni and future alumni of the Herbert College of Agriculture and the College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as friends and donors of all units within the UT Institute of Agriculture. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Annual Giving Strategy & Execution: Create, implement, and direct a robust annual giving program, including strategies for each of the four primary units in UTIA, including a multi-faceted approach to include phone, email, letter, online and event solicitations. Work closely with UT Knoxville Office of Annual Giving to coordinate activities and solicitations, including Big Orange Giving Day, Family Campaign, and unit specific fundraising activities.

Alumni Engagement: Serve as the Chief Alumni Officer for UTIA, working collaboratively with advancement team members, academic department, and partners to create, deliver, and sustain a successful long-range strategic plan for alumni and annual giving engagement of Herbert College of Agriculture and College of Veterinary Medicine alumni. Collaborate with advancement and communications team members to manage alumni communications through media.

Donor Cultivation: Build and maintain relationships with alumni and friends, documenting significant contacts and introducing potential donor prospects to major gift advancement officers. Develop and maintain programming that connects students with alumni and industry partners for networking, internships and career opportunities.

Required Education And Experience

  • The candidate who fills the Senior Director of Alumni and Annual Giving position is required to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or communications
  • Alumni and/or volunteer management or related experience
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple high-profile tasks
  • High level organization skills
  • Ability to work well with colleagues, volunteers, faculty, and students as part of a team in a large complex university
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends; some overnight travel required

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances.In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.

Preferred Education And Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Volunteer management experience in a university advancement office
