R&D Manager

Position Overview:

This individual will be responsible for the overall R&D Department management. The main objectives will be to manage the ERP system with regards to R&D in conjunction with Stage Gate and Product Development. In this role, the R&D Manager will work closely with members of many departments, including Quality, Production, Supply Chain, to create results. This position will manage R&D activities to ensure department objectives are met based on the company’s annual operating plan. This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, productive work environment through participation in corporate programs, and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Manage all related activities with regards R&D on ERP Program, to include but not limited to Stage Gate program management.
• Coach and manage direct reports with emphasis on personal and technical development.
• Generate overall product requirements, specifications and assist in determining time-integrated plans for new product introduction.
• Establish and approve all product formulations, nutrition, and standards.
• Maintain regular communication and quality relationships with key accounts and customers and meet with them regularly to discuss their evolving needs.
• Work with production, supply chain, and QA to troubleshoot and implement product improvement opportunities.
• Approve materials (bags, boxes, etc.) to be used with new and existing items.
• Remain current on the latest trends and technology.
• Actively leading all Product Development related initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as directed.

Education & Experience

• 4-year degree in food science, chemical engineering, or related fields.
• 5+ years’ experience in food manufacturing industry (bakery preferred)
• 5+ years of product development experience with a minimum of 2 years in a product development leadership role
  
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Able to occasionally lift 25lbs.
• Must be physically able to stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, and kneel frequently during plant trials.
• Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
