Role: Marketing Lead - Advertising

Location: New York, NY (3 days per week in office)


This role requires experience marketing digital ADVERTISING platforms or products AND start-up experience.


Our client is one of the largest local news platforms in the US & defines a new way for users to engage with local news. They help a new generation of readers find and engage with vital, locally published content and information. They are expanding their team and looking for senior talent to accelerate growth and hiring a Marketing Lead.


As the Marketing Lead for their Monetization Team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing influential marketing strategies. This position offers abundant opportunities for innovation and growth. You will work closely with top-tier engineering and product teams, with a strong focus on product and growth marketing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to boost advertiser acquisition, enhance product adoption, and ensure user retention. Work closely with product, sales, and cross-functional teams to maintain alignment and achieve successful execution.
  • Devise strategies to cultivate and expand an engaged community of users and advertisers. Create and distribute high-quality content such as case studies, white papers, blogs, and videos.
  • Direct the implementation of promotional and lifecycle email marketing campaigns aimed at improving advertiser engagement and retention. Innovate with growth hacking and unconventional marketing strategies to generate buzz and attract new advertisers.
  • Monitor and assess essential performance metrics to pinpoint areas for enhancement and efficiency. Develop, execute, and evaluate A/B tests to refine marketing tactics.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging opportunities and trends. Utilize data-driven insights to shape strategic decisions and optimize campaign effectiveness.
  • Draft, review, and distribute press releases to announce major company achievements, product launches, and partnerships. Collaborate with media outlets to secure coverage and amplify announcement reach.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with complementary partners across affiliate networks, tracking platforms, and agency partnerships. Leverage these collaborations to enhance marketing initiatives and drive growth.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience in ad tech, digital marketing, and product marketing.
  • Thorough understanding of digital marketing channels including SEO, SEM, email marketing, and social media.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of transforming data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated success in leading marketing teams and launching successful products.
  • Proficient in tools such as SQL, Amplitude, MODE, and project management software.
  • Outstanding copywriting and content creation abilities.
  • Experience applying UX principles to drive user engagement.
  • Skilled in cultivating online communities and managing B2B partnerships.
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and proactive in seizing opportunities.
