Huawei's Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Network Energy Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei's Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Expert on Power System & Grid-Tied Inverter Control (m/f/d)

Your mission

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and formulate power system & grid-tired inverter control requirements, especially with increased injection of power electronic-based energy generation such as renewable energies
  • Proactively discuss with local Grid Operators, Power Suppliers and Energy Consumers on the latest developments, and formulate technical reports for internal use
  • Investigation on the state-of-the-art power system & grid-tired inverter control technologies and identify the technical trends of the future power system & inverter
  • Proactively work with standard organizations to influence the latest grid code changes and to follow the latest standards for Solar PV & Energy Storage equipment
  • Generate novel ideas and protect them with IPR fillings
  • Mentor and coach less experienced staff members


Your areas of expertise

  • You hold a PhD or a Master's degree in the field of electrical engineering or power systems or a similar background, and relevant working experience in this field
  • Deep expertise in the various power generation, transmission, and distribution scenarios, and also in grid-tired inverter control technologies
  • Familiar with power grid stability-related technologies, such as grid protection, energy flow control, voltage stable control, inverter control, grid-forming, etc.
  • Familiar with international and national standard organizations/bodies, and deep experiences in the standards related to Solar PV solutions and Battery Energy Storage Systems
  • Proven experience with new technology development initiatives and innovations in power system domain with a track record of publications in reputed journals and conferences
  • High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, "can do" attitude, eager to learn new things, and ready to think outside the box
  • Occasional travel related to ongoing projects
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (working language), additional languages are a plus
