LLU Health Care: Surgery-Academic/Head and Neck (Full Time, Day Shift)

Job Summary: The Manager-Academic will provide assistance to the Chairman and the Program Directors in the management and direction of training programs within the assigned departments. Works with department leadership on residency programs, resident and faculty surveys, evaluations, educational course offerings and projects related to research activities. With Program Directors, responsible for residency screening and recruitment process of three programs. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies for all programs and individual residents. Chairs various academic meetings. Provides management of and direction to residency and scheduling support personnel. Coordinates the educational activities of the program for the incoming and current residents including rotation schedules. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration or related field required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum two years of administrative support experience in a healthcare setting required, academic experience preferred. Progressive responsibility in management required. Experience may be considered in lieu of Degree.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: TAGME certification required within one year of hire.
