Internal Controls/SOX Managing Director

Our client, a specialized advisory firm, is looking for a Managing Director to lead their internal controls and SOX advisory practice in New York City. Primarily an ex-Big 4 firm, they already have a notable client base and are looking for someone to further develop the practice!

Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee all Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance projects.
• Ensure project completion through effective delegation and resolving escalated issues.
• Foster a positive team culture based on collaboration, mentorship, and accountability.
• Develop and train teams to ensure excellence in project execution and client service.
• Recommend internal control solutions that mitigate risk effectively.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through collaborative and consultative approaches.
• Utilize local market knowledge to grow the service line and office footprint.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Preferred certifications: CIA, CISA, and/or CPA.
• 12+ years of experience in public accounting/advisory, with a focus on risk and SOX compliance.
• Strong leadership, project management, and client management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively.
• Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and adapt communication style as needed.
• Flexible and adaptive to changes in project timelines, deadlines, and scope of work.
