Working as an Accountant in the operational support team at Pomerleau Construction, you will be responsible for collecting, coordinating and verifying accounting data to ensure the successful maintenance of our project accounts. Supporting our work in building large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $1.5 to upwards of $1 billion - you will have the opportunity to take ownership of various accounting functions and support our accounts payable teams in payment management.

What You Will Do

  • Maintains general and auxiliary accounting records;
  • Performs daily reconciliation of subsidiary accounts (suppliers, customers and employees);
  • Records cash transactions (bank);
  • Identifies accounting entries and invoices with anomalies and forwards them to the chief accountant;
  • Performs bank reconciliations;
  • Enters fixed asset and IFRS 16 entries;
  • Records journal entries;
  • Participates in closing entries:
  • Establishes the list of accrued expenses on the basis of purchase orders issued or unbilled advances;
  • Identifies prepaid expenses;
  • Checks and enters work in progress;
  • Enters inventories;
  • Assists the accounting manager in preparing tax returns;
  • Assists accounting manager with internal and external financial audits;
  • Analyzes balance sheet accounts;
  • Archives documents.

This role could be for you if you have

  • DEC in accounting;
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar position;
  • Knowledge of the SAP system;
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel;
  • Analytical mind and rigor;
  • Ability to work independently, sense of priorities and organization;
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
