Century Engineering is seeking a motivated Environmental Scientist I to join our Water and Environmental Resources team located in the Hunt Valley, MD office. This position includes office and field work to provide a variety of environmental assessments (wetlands, WUS, forest, RTE, other); prepare permit applications (JPA, FCP, NEPA, other); and environmental designs (planting plans, mitigation, monitoring). These types of services are provided for a wide range of clients including, but not limited to: SHA, MDTA, MTA, BGE, many Maryland counties, and through other clients/ offices/ states. Project types include, but are not limited to: water resources, stream restoration, stormwater management, wetland mitigation/ monitoring, reforestation/ monitoring, transportation, and facilities. The Water and Environmental Resources group and the Hunt Valley office have significant contract capacity and strong workload backlog.

As part of Kleinfelder there are many opportunities for collaboration across offices and to be involved in large regional or national projects and contracts. Century and Kleinfelder provide comprehensive planning, design, permitting and construction phase services for public and private sector clients.

Required Experience/ Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in environmental science, biology, or related field
• 0 to 3 years of experience performing natural resources assessments and preparing permit applications
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  
  

Desired Experience/ Qualifications:

• Experience on MD transportation, NPDES MS4, or NEPA projects
• Working knowledge of field sampling techniques
• Familiarity with USACE wetland delineations
• Plant identification
• Team approach and motivated to learn and grow
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS
