Century Engineering is seeking a responsible candidate for the position of Construction Inspector to join our team. The person filling this role will work on a variety of interesting projects based out of our Hunt Valley, MD office. The successful candidate will have some knowledge of performing construction inspection and material testing. Projects may consist of water and sewer installations, roadways, bridges, sidewalks, buildings and/or stormwater management.

Responsibilities:

Provide inspection of construction activities and record details on an Inspector's Daily Report (IDR) and/or other reports as necessary

Assure compliance with construction plans and specifications

Document quantities of work completed for payment

Provide materials testing (soil, concrete and HMA) and record test results

Assist in review and response to contractor RFIs

Attend job meetings and assist in the preparation of minutes

Travel to various work sites

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Current/valid Driver's License with demonstrated safe driving practices and reliable transportation

Minimum of two years of experience in construction, construction inspection or construction contract administration

Strong organizational skills

Basic knowledge of construction materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel)

Basic math skills including the ability to measure and record linear measurements and compute volume and area for geometric shapes

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Outstanding customer service skills, either in-person, via telephone or via email

Efficiency, accuracy and strong attention to detail

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Strong computer skills, including e-mail and formal correspondence as well as good file management practices

Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently

Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
