About this Role:

The Executive Search team is an elite recruiting function, responsible for delivering the highest quality talent for executive level leadership roles (OC-1, OC-2, OC-3) impacting some of the most critical roles across the Gartner business.

The Director of Exec Search will lead Executive Search partners who contribute globally to executive level hiring. This leader will be responsible for evolving the Executive Search Function in line with Gartner TA and its future growth strategy. In this role, the exec search leader will own key stakeholder relationships with the Recruiting Executive Leadership team and other senior recruiting leadership across all BU’s. Other key stakeholder relationships include the HR Partner Leadership Team, OC and OC-1 leaders and the compensation team. The Director, Exec Search will be in a unique position, helping to shape the recruitment of executive level leaders across all BU’s.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a global team of executive search partners, recruiting for OC-1, OC-2, and OC-3 roles across all BU’s.
  • Create a best-in-class executive recruiting function by establishing consistent, white-glove processes for stakeholders, partners, and internal/external candidates.
  • Enable the highest quality of hire, by developing a Gartner Leadership guide levering the Gartner leadership principles.
  • Work closely with the recruiting executive leadership and HR Partner leadership teams across all BU’s to ensure a deep understanding of current leader hiring dynamics, gaps, succession plans and potential growth.
  • Partner closely with the compensation team to create subject matter expertise across the exec search team on executive level compensation, with a thorough understanding of Gartner’s compensation philosophy, what levers we use and when to pull them.
  • Build out a reserve of approved executive retained search firms in key practice areas to enable quick action only when needed
  • Manage external search firms in partnership with aligned HR Partner Leadership Team member when needed.
  • Take ownership of or help to lead OC-1 searches, when needed
  • Manage OC level processes and debriefs when needed
  • Attend executive level talent reviews to continue to have a pulse on leadership gaps, succession plans, and opportunities.
  • Create and drive proactive pipeline strategies at the executive level, focused on transferrable, agile skillsets and expertise that can be leveraged across multiple Gartner BU’s.

What you’ll need:

  • 10+ years experience across Talent Acquisition and/or HR, with minimum of 5+ years in Recruiting and/or HR Leadership.
  • Experience navigating complex, high level recruitment searches/activities
  • Proven track record of managing relationships with C-level executives, leaders across HR, and Compensation, and C-level executives.
  • Highly data centric with proven experience of leveraging systems to drive business results.
  • Proven ability to partner, influence and create trust-based, value-added relationships in a global, matrix environment.
  • Ability to coach and manage senior level recruiters and understand and prioritize and communicate resourcing needs
  • Proven ability to solve problems and think creatively
  • Demonstrated ability to model, influence and manage team to maintain rigor in process, compliance, and operational expertise

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 116,000 USD - 164,220 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
