We are seeking an Early Childhood/Teacher Education Academic Specialist. Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, this person, in addition to teaching, provides support to students during their field placements at local agencies. The Early Childhood/Teacher Education (ECE/TE) Academic Specialist position is a twelve (12) month position and is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.
This is a full-time, administrative position.
Example Of Duties
Teach up to 15 hours per week during the semester including day and evening classes.
Collaborate with the ECE/TE Department Coordinator on grant activities.
Establish and maintain relationships with Community Partners including outreach and cohort coordination.
Conduct field visits, monitor, and contribute to assessment of student performance.
Serve on the Department's Advisory Council.
Lead the ECE/TE Future Teacher's Club (FTC).
Participate in Dual-Enrollment preparation and application.
Assist with outreach and the development of articulation agreements with four-year institutions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Qualifications
Master's degree related to Education required.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience teaching at the community college level in the field of Early Childhood and Teacher Education.
Experience with assessment, fieldwork and monitoring of grant related implementation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
Sensitivity, commitment, and experience working with a diverse student populations.
Demonstrate experience and knowledge of Blackboard, modern technology and the application and use in the classroom.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
