FUNCTION: To assist the varsity and sub-varsity teams and provide support to the head coach as assigned in the management of the designated athletic program.
EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated annually
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Keep abreast of current sport knowledge and coaching techniques in the designated athletic activity by attending clinics and/or studying related literature. The assistant coach also should be knowledgeable of the policies of the WestDeptfordSchool District and the rules and regulations and bylaws of the Colonial Conference and the NJSIAA.
Plan and supervise scheduled workouts and games for the assigned team.
Instruct participants in the skills and techniques of the position played in the sport.
Attend varsity contests as requested and provide support for the head coach in decisions and management of assigned sport events.
Perform scouting duties as assigned by the head coach.
Assist the head coach as assigned in the management of equipment, maintenance of records, issuing athletic awards, and other functions associated with promotion and management of the designated athletic program.
Attend clinics and meetings as required by the athletic department.
Encourage academic achievement through active cooperation and communication with the teaching staff.
Be loyal to the head coach, fellow assistants, and the athletic department as a whole. Any disagreements should be discussed among the coaches and/or athletic director, in order to establish united standards of agreement.
Perform other related duties appropriate as assigned by the head coach.
