DiNovo-Deak Endowed Chair of Plant Science and Food Security

The College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Biology at the University of Dayton invite applications for the inaugural DiNovo-Deak Endowed Chair of Plant Science and Food Security. This inaugural endowed chair will have the opportunity to conduct impactful work on the application of plant or crop science and to join an active and diverse research landscape at the University of Dayton. The fundamental goal of the DiNovo-Deak Endowed Chair of Plant Science and Food Security is to make advancements in applied plant or crop science that can increase global food security by improving the resilience or yield of crops utilized in at-risk regions of the world.

The Department of Biology's mission is to pursue excellence in teaching, research, experiential learning, service and mentoring by fostering a diverse and inclusive work and learning environment that prepares undergraduate and graduate students as lifelong learners ready to solve challenges that will shape the future of human health and the environment. We are a federally-funded research-active department with a diverse group of faculty whose teaching and research areas include: genetics, neuroscience, bioengineering, microbiology, plant biology, and ecology. Our laboratories (bench and field) are spaces for doing excellent research and for training the next generation of scientists. In addition to curricular excellence, we prioritize experiential learning for undergraduates, and training for M.S. & Ph.D. graduate students and postdoctoral scientists. We collaborate extensively with campus and community partners to advance our shared missions for addressing real-world issues with innovative real-world solutions in pursuit of the common good. We are excited to recruit a visionary mission-focused colleague in the area of Plant Science and Food Security.

The University's 382-acre campus is located at the southern edge of Dayton, Ohio, which has a metropolitan area population of approximately one million.
