THE ROLE

The Associate Director, Executive Communications serves as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and their Executive Committee. This individual develops and executes an integrated communications strategy that communicates the CEO’s strategic and operational priorities and differentiated points of view to the full range of Cognizant’s stakeholders to protect and burnish the company’s reputation; helps define the channel strategy to execute that executive POV; and that advances Cognizant’s visibility across the industry.

This role includes CEO messaging and positioning through public speaking, client engagements, written byline news articles, social media publishing, associate town halls, video scripts, government engagements, external reporting of corporate earnings, think tanks, global CEO events and other impactful content for key Cognizant internal and external events, and strategic speaking opportunities to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

Lead strategic alignment sessions to identify and validate strategic topics and create compelling executive communications for Cognizant's key stakeholders, including employees, senior leaders, board members, customers, partners, senior advisors, and the industry-at-large. Partner with key stakeholders across the company to strengthen, align, and amplify Cognizant’s technology and business messaging. Develop thought-provoking content that align to Cognizant’s vision, purpose, and values, positioning our EC members as inspirational business leaders and industry spokespeople. Oversee prioritized executive communications deliverables, including, but not limited to strategic messaging and content for:

  • News & external comms
    • Key message prep for press interviews
    • Evaluate & prepare for speaking opportunities
    • Researching and writing articles/bylines/op-eds
    • CEO quotes for press releases
  • Social Media
    • LinkedIn & X content creation/curation
    • Client, KOL & Cognizant exec committee amplification
  • Investor Communications
    • Quarterly earnings, messaging to shareholders
  • Client Communications
    • Direct to client/prospective client correspondence
  • Employee Communications
    • Engaging Cognizant’s 355,000 employees with frequent communication of all forms
  • Office of the CEO
    • Internal speeches and external KOL & analyst engagement
    • Key message prep for informal CEO engagements
    • General industry research for use in CEO content
Basic & Preferred Qualitifications

  • 15+ years of communications (internal and external) experience; with a minimum of 10 years in executive communications and at least 5 years in leadership roles
  • Comfort working in a global, highly matrixed environment with people at all levels of the organization
  • Previous experience in IT services industry highly preferred

Salary And Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $116,100-$212,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
