EmpathyHQ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Texas (legally "Alliance Child & Family Solutions," Tax ID 46-2117819). OurMission is to providelife-changing mental health services with a focus on vulnerable populations. Our Vision is for a resilient community with access to resources for a healthy and authentic life.
Term Commitments:
Though our Bylaws do not specify a term limit, we ask that each Board Member commit to a calendar year, and we send a blank "Recommitment Form" at the end of each year. In this form, existing Board Members indicate whether they plan to remain on the Board, transfer to an Advisory Role or SupportiveCommittee, or resign.
Responsibilities:
In seeking individuals to join the Board of Directors or to fill director vacancies on the Board of Directors, the Committee considers the following to be minimum qualifications that a candidate must possess:

Responsibilities:
- Attend quarterly meetings (generally in-person in the Fort Worth 76104 area);
- Review and respond to biweekly email updates from the Executive Director;
- Engagein DEI education (independently and as a Board Member);
- Participate in at least two activities per year per our Development & Engagement Policy;
- Consider serving in a Chair Position or serve on Additional Committees
In seeking individuals to join the Board of Directors or to fill director vacancies on the Board of Directors, the Committee considers the following to be minimum qualifications that a candidate must possess:
- Nonprofit Management - Board Members should have sufficient applicable experience to understand the legal and other responsibilities of a nonprofit corporation fully
- Leadership Experience - Board Members must have extensive and relevant leadership experience, preferably in a senior leadership role in a large or recognized organization
- Business Acumen - Board Members possess a unique combination of knowledge and skill, including financial literacy, ability to deal with ambiguity, understanding of cause and effect, self-awareness, stakeholder awareness, and contextual knowledge to assist the Board of Directors in navigating decisions for the Agency
- Relevant Sector Experience - Board Members will have gained leadership experience in sectors directly relevant to the Company’s business or in professional disciplines pertinent to the Company’s key capability areas
- Education - Generally, a Board Member should hold an undergraduate degree from a respected college or university. In some cases, it is further desirable for the candidate to have earned a master’s or doctoral degree. These educational criteria are not meant to exclude an exceptional candidate who does not meet these educational criteria
- High Ethical Standards - Board Members should be of high moral and ethical character. The ideal Board Member feels they both personally and professionally align with our five (5) core values as an agency: 1) Integrity, 2) Solution-Focused, 3) Compassionate, 4) Committed, and 5) Accountable
- Individual Characteristics - The Board Member should have the personal qualities to contribute substantially to Board deliberations. These qualities include intelligence, self-assuredness, a high ethical standard, interpersonal skills, independence, courage, a willingness to ask difficult questions, communication skills, and commitment
- Availability - The Board Members must be willing to commit and have sufficient time available to discharge the duties of Board Membership
- Compatibility - The Board Member should be able to develop a good working relationship with other Board members and contribute to the Board’s working relationship with the Company's senior management
- Free of Conflicts of Interest - Board Members should not have any prohibited interlocking relationships. The Board Member should be free of any personal or professional conflicts of interest with the mission and services of the Agency. A Conflict of Interest Form is completed annually or as conditions may arise for the particular Board Member
- Commitment to Diversity - The Board Member should bring diversity to the Board, offering unique experiences and points of view. In addition, the Board of Directors should uphold a commitment to diversity, represent the communities the Agency serves, and uplift voices from underrepresented populations
