We are seeking a Temporary Research Scientist for our Global Discovery Chemistry (GDC) team at BioMedical Research San Diego to work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment to enable compound distribution locally and worldwide.

You will conduct compound registration and assist with cataloguing intermediates and materials from CROs as well as interfacing with web-based software tools. Some of the laboratory tasks would include retrieval, organization, labelling and storage of solids and solutions and preparation of shipments of these materials to other Novartis sites and/or CROs.

Key Responsibilities

• Registration of intermediates or final compounds in Novartis database(s).
• Manual compound weighing and cataloguing.
• Fulfillment of dry and solution-based compound sample requests for local and/or global Novartis sites and for external collaborators.
• Retrieval and storage of compounds and post-processing procedures using established lab protocols.
• Expected to be a good lab citizen.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• A BS or equivalent degree in chemical, biological sciences, or related field with 1+ years working in a laboratory setting, with experience working in a chemistry laboratory being preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
• Work collaboratively across lab with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with chemical structure drawing software and chemical nomenclature.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Rate: $35-$40/hour

Contract: 6 months
