Associate Battery Engineer
As Associate Battery Engineer, you're helping push the limits of lithium-ion cell design using Anthro's state-of-the-art polymer electrolytes. You will work with the Cell Development team to create batteries with industry-leading safety and mechanical performance using creative design, detail-oriented assembly, and implementation of industry best-practices for quality. A successful Associate Battery Engineer is driven and organized; communicates effectively with internal and external partners; and thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment.
The Associate Battery Engineer will be responsible for the design, fabrication and testing of novel prototype batteries. The engineer will be responsible for all aspects of creating and testing new batteries; from conceptual design based on application requirements, to hands-on assembly, through electrochemical and physical characterization. An ability to clearly communicate experimental plans and report findings will be essential.
The Cell Development team is responsible for creating new cell designs and implementing advanced production processes to achieve high-performance cells in support of internal and external R&D efforts. You will be expected take ownership of experiments from concept to completion, work in a cross-functional environment and navigate ambiguity when it arises.
What you will do
- Create cell designs and predict cell performance from theoretical material properties
- Fabricate prototype lithium ion batteries from individual sub-components
- Design and conduct thoughtful experiments, analyze data, and interpret experimental results
- Work with commercial partners to build novel batteries and execute experimental test plans
- Assist with preparation and execution of government grants
- Prepare presentations and reports on progress at internal meetings
- Work in-person, on-site at Anthro's lab in San Jose
- B.S. or M.S. in STEM field with experience building and testing lithium ion batteries
- A hands-on researcher with demonstrated ability to create high-quality devices
- Comfortable working in an R&D setting where safety is paramount
- An excellent communicator and team player
- Able to manage multiple workflows and projects
