Position Overview

City Year New Hampshire is seeking a Development Manager to contribute to the site’s multifaceted fundraising, recruitment, communications, and engagement efforts to build community investment. Specifically, the Development Manager is focused on growing awareness and promoting the mission of City Year and service work through marketing and communications, events, and overall community engagement.


The Development Manager will work closely with the Development Director and Chief of Staff, as well as engage with organization stakeholders including corps, staff, alumni, and Board members. This position requires a well-organized and flexible individual who possesses the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams and autonomously on self-directed projects.



Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications (40%)

  • Elevate the digital marketing presence and execute a communication plan inclusive of web, email and social media to increase awareness and reach of City Year New Hampshire.
  • Be the liaison with our HQ Marketing and Communications team coordinating engagement in their provided services and learning opportunities.
  • Actively engage on social media channels: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
  • Monitor and conduct analytics on each engagement strategy.
  • Create compelling digital design and written content for website publication, blog posts, 4-8 newsletters per year, social media channels, and press releases.
  • Utilize Canva and Adobe Suite to design and produce high-quality graphic assets and marketing materials for print and digital platforms.
  • Ensure consistency in branding elements, typography, and color schemes across all design collateral.


Events & Community Engagement (35%)

  • Support planning and execution of annual fundraising gala and other site events.
  • Support and plan engagement activities and events for targeted audiences and stakeholder groups such as donors, alumni, schoolhouse partners, and recruitment audiences.
  • Play a key role in supporting impact and recruitment staff in external relationship building by helping plan and execute events and developing outside partnerships.
  • Prepare and execute mailings, invitations, reports, and speaker briefings for events.
  • Manage key event committee members and vendor relationships throughout the year, including audio visual, virtual platform, catering companies, event venues, etc.
  • Represent City Year New Hampshire powerfully at local events and community functions.


Annual Fund Campaign & Donor Management (15%)

  • Maintain and regularly update donor information through SalesForce based platform in partnership with the Operations Manager.
  • Support solicitation and stewardship mailings/outreach including annual appeals, champion letters, days of giving (i.e. GivingTuesday, NH Gives Day) and other strategic donor outreach.
  • Support the creation and distribution of donor correspondence such as thank you letters/emails, and acknowledgments on social media and site-website.


Organizational Initiatives (10%)

  • Participate in both individual and site-wide learning opportunities centered on Diversity, Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion (DBIE) practices.
  • Partner with CYNH’s departments and staff through applicant interview process, team buddy program, event and service day participation, and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met.
  • Attend overnight events including retreats, and other local and national events.
  • Contribute to the intellectual and organizational capacity of City Year New Hampshire by staying apprised of local and national trends in communications, national service, and public education.


Experience Required

  • Two to three years of professional experience, preferably in marketing and communications, and/or event planning for a non-profit or educational organization, with proven ability to meet or exceed goals.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage, build relationships and inspire a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills; capacity to strategically plan and implement new and proven projects and ideas.
  • Proven attention to detail and disciplined project management skills; ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and respond to short deadlines.
  • High degree of initiative and coordination; high energy, positive, “can-do” team player who can inspire and engage with others.
  • Strong passion for and commitment to City Year’s mission of delivering high-impact service to the children of New Hampshire, advancing educational equity, developing young people into the next generation of leaders, and promoting the concept of voluntary national service.
