Position Overview

The Senior Manager Community Partnerships and AmeriCorps Member Experience plays a key role in two aspects of the ACM Experience: supporting incoming and active members with critical administrative needs and services and engaging prospective members through local partnerships and events.


Reporting to the Marketing, Communications and Recruitment Director, the SM of CP/ACME will execute all compliance standards required by AmeriCorps, The City of Detroit and City Year, Inc. The SM of ACME will also prioritize administration of daily AmeriCorps member-related operations. Working in close collaboration with the Sr. Director of External and Government Affairs, the SM of ACME will support and build relationships with local community-based organizations and high schools to engage prospective candidates and potentially build connections for current ACMs. The SM of ACME will play a pivotal role in supporting the creation and implementation of a positive and transformational member experience.



Responsibilities

Senior Community Partnerships and ACMs Manager

  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director of External and Government Affairs to engage community-based organizations, high schools, City agencies, and elected officials to promote the opportunity for young people to serve with CYD
  • Explore mutually beneficial partnerships with CBOs to enhance the ACM experience, benefits, and LACY opportunities through partnership meetings, conferences, and events
  • Collaborate with the Corps Talent Acquisition team to support and manage the experience of prospective ACM candidates, ideally leading to submitted applications


AmeriCorps Compliance, Engagement, and Administrative Support

  • Plan, facilitate and execute corps registration days, ensuring all ACMs complete all on-boarding tasks
  • Project manage site responsibilities ensure ACMs adhere to AmeriCorps Compliance Expectations
  • Project manage & execute Corps onboarding
  • Support ACMs in navigating letters, Corps emergency find, housing, etc.


Department/Site Support

  • Act as point of contact for incoming corps on all questions/concerns related to background checks, SNAP benefits, benefits enrollment, and onboarding tasks
  • Support Corps Director & Sr. DL & I in planning and facilitating various projects including but not limited to LACY Day, Game of Zones, PST Celebration, and Corps Graduation
  • Support operations of Impact department, including uniform management, travel pass


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree typical OR equivalent experience
  • Passionate about public education and reducing education inequity in Detroit
  • Ability to sense themes locally, state-wide, and nationally and strategically align CY’s work to capture opportunity
  • Expert at moving projects forward to completion and balancing multiple priorities
  • Strong ability to build collaborative relationships, both internally and externally
  • Excellent at problem solving and thinking creatively to make improvements to systems and processes
  • Curiosity and energy to seek out diverse solutions to address issues
  • The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional skills in strategic thinking, judgement, reasoning, communication, and problem solving as demonstrated by the ability to:
  • Design and lead complex, high-stakes projects/initiatives, including mitigating risk and tracking issues through to completion
  • Conduct and leverage quantitative and qualitative analysis to guide decision making and make recommendations
  • Communicate effectively at the executive level (written, verbal, and presentation skills), including proficiency with PowerPoint
  • Work collaboratively in dynamic organizational environments, developing strong internal and external relationships
  • Utilize change management techniques and project management protocols
  • Display poise, confidence, and maturity in interacting with senior executives
