Reporting to the Manager of Community Engagement, the candidate for TECH Truck Coordinator will have the opportunity to make a positive, long-term impact for the community by delivering and connecting dynamic science learning to families to support vibrant futures. The TECH Truck Coordinator will have the responsibility to develop and execute STEM-based curriculum, engage with communities of various backgrounds and facilitate programming both at the museum and offsite at various community events, summer camps, library and after school programs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Authentically and professionally project and reflect the mission of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science
  • Regularly engage with audiences both at the museum and offsite at various locations such as schools, libraries, rec centers, community events, etc.
  • Develop, set up and execute TECH Truck curriculum
  • Assess program supply inventory and then purchase supplies and materials for TECH Truck programs
  • Record and document spending for program materials, supplies and equipment
  • Keep accurate records of program attendance and guest feedback
  • Track and document maintenance of the TECH Trucks including fuel levels and any other services needed
  • Actively participate and facilitate in ongoing training related to program delivery and teaching techniques, program and outreach vehicle safety, customer service, and current technology/equipment operations
  • Regularly engage in external professional development via online or in-person seminars
  • Maintain recording equipment in the Mobile Educational Studio
  • Demonstrate thoughtful and appropriate time management in extending the vision, strategies and tactics required for effective curriculum execution
  • Provide leadership in the development of inter-team communication, collaboration, and cohesiveness, sustaining culture and supporting staff during organizational growth.
  • Maintain a general understanding of all museum program offerings, including audience, topics, and curriculum addressed
  • Assist in cross-department workload to accomplish all short and long-term institutional program goals
  • Must be available to work weekend and evening hours

Qualifications

Required Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education, Community Leadership, Community Relations or related fields
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of education, programming and/or leadership experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to achieve expected results while working effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Success as a team player who can consistently interact and demonstrate civility among peers, direct reports, and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Community program facilitation with an emphasis in STEM.

Essential Functions

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required regularly to:

  • drive to, set up and facilitate programming at various locations across the DFW area.
  • communicate by telephone; email other appropriate Perot Museum communication platforms (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).

While preforming the duties of this position, the employee will occasionally be required to:

  • lift and/or move light boxes and other materials of 20 lbs. or less.
