About the position: (This is not a 100% remote position/ MANDATORY IN OFFICE: Tuesday & Wednesday).

The Marketplace (https://www.fbmarketplace.org) is an award-winning eCommerce site that sits at the heart of First Book’s mission, offering an exceptional array of low-cost, high-quality books and resources to educators working with kids and teens in need. The work of the eCommerce Manager is crucial to the success of the Marketplace, creating an outstanding shopping experience that is customized to meet the needs of programs that support underserved communities.

First Book is seeking a detail-oriented, systems-minded individual passionate about books for children and teens to join the Merchandising team as an eCommerce Manager. This role will focus on cataloging Marketplace books and other educational resources to make them easily and intuitively discoverable. They will also be a key player in cross-functional collaborations to ideate on and implement optimizations to the Marketplace and improvements to the member experience, basing decisions on relevant data and industry and technology best practices.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide member-focused cataloging for products on the First Book Marketplace according to established scope, processes, and procedures.
  • Optimize, integrate, and maintain online product portfolio, including product specifications and product detail pages, and advise on promotional execution.
  • Oversee the Marketplace ratings and reviews tool to drive member engagement and user-generated content, including reviews moderation, tool management and optimization, and content sharing with internal stakeholders.
  • Support organization-wide promotional strategies through promo code creation, testing, and tool management and optimization.
  • Act as the IT liaison for the eCommerce team, working with the team to understand, document, and shepherd needs and improvements through the ticketing process; participating in technology prioritization meetings; keeping the team informed of updates, upgrades, and changes; and leading relevant user acceptance testing and validation efforts.
  • Regularly review, optimize, and document changes to Merchandising processes.
  • Regularly review product data for accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist in product selection as needed.
  • Provide book and reading insights/expertise to all teams as needed.

Qualifications

  • An in-depth and broad understanding of and enthusiasm for children's and young adult literature.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Able to quickly and intuitively adopt and master new systems, processes, and technologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to partner with others and deal effectively with multiple priorities and differing points of view.
  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals and teams across functions and the flexibility to adapt to changing objectives.
  • Highly motivated to continuously learn and improve department processes.

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor degree or above, preferably with an emphasis in Education, Library Science, English, or related field.
  • 3+ years promoting children’s and/or young adult books to teachers, parents, etc.
  • Previous experience working in eCommerce a plus.
