The Manufacturing Integration Engineer plans and executes the integration and optimization of manufacturing lines and processes. The position looks to reduce manpower and find efficiencies through automation and training. The position works cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to source and design lines that meet the requirements of each project. The position reports to the Director of Engineering and supports project management to ensure timely completion of investments.
Responsibilities And Essential Duties
Integrates new and/or current manufacturing equipment to ensure lines are operating at maximum effectiveness with as little human interaction as possible.
Modifies or develops PLC programming to support the successful integration of lines.
Manages the planning, coordination, and execution of CAPEX projects.
Communicates directly with equipment manufacturers to ensure milestones are being met, and keeps project timelines updated with the most up-to-date information.
Informs management of equipment update factors that may temporarily disrupt processes or production scheduling.
Participates in the preparation and administration of the CAPEX budget.
Submits recommendations, prepares cost estimates, submits justification for equipment, and assists in the development of support documentation for projects.
Maintains awareness of new trends and developments in maintenance and incorporates new procedures and training as appropriate.
Reviews and develops optimization plans.
Determines product impact of changes on manufacturing lines.
Develops Process Flow Diagrams for equipment setup.
Works with Commercialization to design equipment modifications based on product and packaging types.
Maintains plant drawings with current and proposed manufacturing line layout using AutoCad.
Develops change part prototypes using solid works and 3D printing principles.
Works with Quality to ensure the successful qualification and validation of lines.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
Technical Skills Required
Possesses critical thinking skills and maintains an enthusiastic and positive approach toward employees and the job function.
Proficient in AutoCad or Solid Works.
Proficient with controls engineering and integration; for example Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Wonderware.
Ability to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical/blueprint drawings and specification documents.
Possesses a sufficient degree of mathematics and engineering skills.
Ability to lead a multi-discipline team in a technical capacity.
Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully; is constantly and consistently one of the top performers; very bottom-line oriented; steadfastly pushes self and others for results.
Experience Required
Degree in mechanical/electrical engineering required or extensive applicable experience in a related role.
Ability to operate effectively in the use of business tools including computers, e-mail, and applicable software applications.
Physical Requirements
Lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds, walking and standing for long periods of time.
Squatting, bending, and climbing (use of a ladder).
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, loud noises, and vibration.
