Human Resources Business Partner

Job Purpose

At Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region (CISDR) we provide students and families with a wholistic support system necessary to achieve in and outside of school. The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will partner across all CISDR departments to align HR initiatives with organizational goals to provide clarity, positively impact culture, and drive team member engagement. The HRBP will serve as a trusted advisor to recruit and retain talent, coach employees and managers on HR policies and best practices in a highly dynamic and fast-paced organization.

The HR Business Partner will report to the Chief HR Officer and is part of the Human Resources team along with the Operations Manager. Duties And Responsibilities

  • Counsel and assist CISDR team members with front line HR inquiries guided by the CISDR policies, best practices, and relevant laws/regulations
  • Manage full recruiting function including collaboration with field leadership to understand skills and competencies for all open positions, posting open positions on internal and external sites, sourcing and evaluating candidates, conducting phone screens, making recommendations to hiring managers, coordinating interview schedules, extending offers, and following up with all candidates
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation and coordinate all onboarding logistics including scheduling, paperwork, first day preparation, district requirements including fingerprinting and background checks, I-9 documentation and verification, etc.
  • Work with CHRO and management team to implement HR and organizational change efforts
  • Assist with the creation, documentation, and implementation of Human Resources and organizational policies, programs, and processes
  • Uphold standards of strict confidentiality with respect to all HR and organizational mattes
  • Responsible for the maintenance and integrity of all employee data in personnel files and Paycom including processing all HR transactions in Paycom
  • Become Paycom subject matter expert to handle all employee and manager system inquiries
  • Complete monthly reports for local and national review and analysis including Balance Score Card, KPI reporting, and CIS National reporting
  • Assist with Exit Interviews for separating employees
  • Stay up to date on new HR industry developments, trends, and legal matters and how they can/will apply to CISDR
  • Partner across departments to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Assist with annual Open Enrollment process for employee benefits, as well as coordinating with the benefits broker and carriers on day-to-day benefit issues
  • Responsible for FMLA and Short-Term Disability leave management
  • Collaborate with the CHRO with special projects as needed
  • Partner with CHRO and Operations Manager to develop content and facilitate various employee trainings throughout the year including annual Project Ops and other sessions as warranted
  • Coach and counsel managers on maintaining positive employee relations for a wide range of issues
  • Assist CHRO with employee relations investigations as warranted
  • Identify opportunities to develop and implement process improvement initiatives
  • Exercise professional judgement at all times when handling HR matters and concerns – advise team members as able and know when to escalate and ask for assistance as needed
  • Planning and organizing major employee events including holiday party and end of year Field Day
  • Participate in site visits throughout the year as requested
  • Participate in major CISDR development and PR events such as volunteering at the annual Golf Tournament and events of that nature
  • Assist with Annual Open Enrollment process and serve as subject matter expert on all CISDR benefit offerings to ensure accuracy in reporting and answer team member questions
  • Perform monthly benefit invoice reconciliation for all benefit offerings
  • Advocate for team members in addressing benefit-related challenges and providing guidance on available resources

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with PAYCOM and Salesforce a significant plus
  • Three (3) to six (6) years of experience across multiple HR disciplines including recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state employment laws

Licenses and Certifications

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential a plus

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local HR laws and ordinances

  • Familiarity with Google, Microsoft Products, Paycom, and Salesforce
  • Ability to handle confidential material in an appropriately discrete manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders and partners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships, establish trust, and provide counsel in a thoughtful, sensitive, and timely manner
  • Ability to manage competing demands, prioritize work with a sense of urgency, meet deadlines, work independently, and deliver on commitments
  • Flexibility and the ability to adjust to a constantly changing work environment is a must
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry and otherwise move up to 15 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, or walk for various lengths of time throughout the day
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment to complete daily work responsibilities
  • Available to work 7.5 hours per day and/or 37.5 hours per week or more as necessary to meet objectives.
  • Ability to travel for meetings, agency trainings and other miscellaneous work assignments within or outside the Greater Dallas Area. Reliable transportation is a must
  • This is primarily an office-based position. Occasional site visits will be required to campuses in the Dallas Region on an as-needed basis.
  • There are opportunities to work from home occasionally. The ability to commute to our Dallas office at 1341 Mockingbird Lane, or to a surrounding school in one of 14+ local school districts on a daily basis is required.
