Site Quality Manager

PPG Aerospace is looking for a dedicated and experienced Site Quality Manager to join our team in Mojave, California. In this on-site senior role, you will report directly to the Plant Manager and lead a large team of over fifty professionals, ensuring that all manufactured products meet stringent quality standards. You will analyze Quality Management System (QMS) results, addressing non-conformances, poor yields, and customer feedback to identify trends and implement necessary actions. Your responsibilities will include facilitating investigations, supporting the scale-up of new products, and ensuring the competency of the quality team through training programs. Key Responsibilities

• Act to prevent quality escapes and ensure adherence to established quality standards
• Maintain continued certification and accreditation to main industry standards including AS9100, Nadcap, Boeing, Airbus, and other customer requirements
• Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for several quality focus areas such as quality systems, analytical lab, sealants lab, coatings lab, and quality engineering
• Ensure organizational structure and staffing within the quality department to meet operational needs
• Provide and approve comprehensive training programs for quality personnel to enhance team competency and performance
• Lead quality improvement programs by participating in critical complaint resolutions, key quality projects, and management reviews to address and rectify critical or repeat issues
• Be the Management Representative for ISO/AS9100 Quality Management System and other relevant quality systems, ensuring functioning and compliance
• Represent the Mojave site in quality-related discussions with customers and industry organizations, including SAE AMS G-8/G-9 and Nadcap Sealant Task Group
• Advise other areas of PPG’s aerospace business on quality-related matters, including platform, S&T, ASCs, and the leadership team
• Develop and maintain an internal audit program to ensure product conformity, identify improvement opportunities, and uphold high standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process
  
  

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in a quality management role within the aerospace industry required
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field required, masters degree preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards and certification requirements, including AS9100, Nadcap, and key customer requirements (e.g., Boeing, Airbus) preferred
• Strong analytical skills with experience in establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and using Quality Management Systems (QMS) preferred
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, represent the organization in industry and customer discussions, and a proven track record of successfully leading large teams preferred
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  
  

Salary Range: $155,000 to $175,000 Depending on experience
