Job Description
The Stony Brook School, a distinguished independent, faith-based boarding school, is seeking a dynamic part-time teacher for Gravitas: A Global Extension of The Stony Brook School. This exciting role entails developing and instructing our online Digital Art classes. You will be part of one of the country's most prestigious Christian academic institutions, collaborating with a talented, entrepreneurial team. Candidates should demonstrate a strong Christian commitment and align with our educational philosophy that is consistent with The Stony Brook School's mission statement.
Department: Gravitas, A Global Extension of the Stony Brook School
Job Status: Part Time, two 1.0 credit-equivalent courses minimum
Primary Office Location: Remote
Salary Range: $6,000 per course (min of 2 courses); potential for additional courses based on enrollment
Start Date: August 12, 2024
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree focusing on digital art, ideally with experience in graphic design, animation, and photography preferred.
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience, including online instruction.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet grading and project deadlines.
- Demonstrated work ethic, high energy, and effective communication with teenagers in an online setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to respond quickly to all communications.
- Eagerness to serve in a faith-based learning environment emphasizing Christian scholarship and character formation.
- Proficiency with technology, including learning management systems like Canvas LMS, Adobe CC Suite, and creating screencasts and videos.
- Reliable high speed internet access
- Team player mindset with openness to giving and receiving feedback with a transparent culture.
- Professional interaction skills with parents and school community members.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity due to our diverse student population.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and lifelong learning.
- Maturity and stability to excel in a demanding role.
- Develop and teach courses in digital arts
- Deliver both synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
- Evaluate and grade students' work effectively.
- Coordinate virtual gallery shows.
- Support students in participating in art competitions and preparing portfolios for college applications.
