Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and vision for the Esports program, including the hiring and supervision of Esports assistant coach, recruiting student-athletes, coaching, and facility management. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervising a comprehensive program including current games and providing leadership and growth/change in game offerings. Will successfully lead and oversee the Esports program in a cost-effective manner. Responsible for developing summer camp/conference experiences to assist with developing a healthy community of gamers and enhancing revenue, as well as growing sponsor/partner/donor revenue to support the Esports program.

This position also assists the Director of Athletics as the on-site manager for home athletic events during the fall, winter and spring seasons. Responsibilities will include providing supervision of the set-up and tear down of athletic contests through collaboration with Plant Services. Provide supervision and staffing of official scoring table, ticket booth and snack bar at athletic events to maintain accuracy and integrity of game management staffing and to provide an impartial working environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides an environment for successful recruitment and retention of student athletes with a total roster size of 25-40 participants with potential for further growth.
  • Develop a healthy, competitive community of gamers and establish guidelines, policies and norms that support student health and well-being, inclusivity, and coordinate recruitment and scholarship activities.
  • Works with prospective students and families through the recruiting cycle to ensure all paperwork is received, processed, and all questions are addressed.
  • Evaluate player and contribute to their growth while supporting the development of student athletes’ success in the classroom and in their respective sport.
  • Coordinates an effective schedule for practice and competitions.
  • Provides for program needs within allocated budget, including inventory of all equipment and uniforms.
  • Maintain the Esports facility and equipment.
  • Develop and represent ECC in a professional/positive manner on and off campus to support the success of the position. Organize and manage summer camps for prospective Esports student athletes.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Athletics to ensure compliance with all IVCCD, ICCAC and NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent understanding of the intricacies and strategies of at least one of these games; League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, and Super Smash Bros (console) preferred.
  • Attends IVCCD and ICCAC meetings as required.
  • Serves as an integral member of the athletic department including its operations and events such as providing game day management duties and driving teams to sporting events as needed for all athletic programs.
  • Requires working with NJCAA Letters of Intent, budgets and purchase orders.
  • Expected to be involved with set-up for their competition, SID work for their sports and some administration duties.
  • Responsible for coordinating various social media platforms to promote all home and away athletic events
  • Manages the streaming functions for home events.
  • Assists athletic department with game day event management, including coordinating set up and tear down, supervision and organization of workers (professional and work study).
  • Assists with all aspects of college and departmental events and activities including but not limited to campus tours, career events, orientations, Panther Preview Days and financial aid workshops.
  • Responsible for athletic gate, game officials, and crowd supervision.
  • Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a diverse population of students. Knowledge, problem solving skills and ability to organize multiple priorities and job duties. Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols.

Extensive knowledge of all competitive video games, including but not limited to League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, and Super Smash Bros (console). Have an understanding of NJCAA and Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) rules and regulations; ability to work collaboratively with students, college staff, assistant coach. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Base Wage: $43,888-$54,790 - actual salary will be based on experience and education.
