Subscription service bad idea
Dear Apple, please listen to customers like myself who have stuck with you through thick and thin. I’ve been a logic owner since Emagic Logic Platinum 5 for classic mac. I have Logic Pro X on my 2019 MacBook Pro and rely on it heavily, Moved to an iPad Pro for specific instrument needs and development. What really saddens me is the fact that you want to go down the subscription route for Logic Pro and Final Cut for the iPad Pro. What is that going to do for you? The price of the same for MacOS is a good price and you’re not tied to a subscription. Stop this nonsense and offer customers two options, 1: subscription mode. 2: Perpetual License at full price, that way you make the decision as a customer where you want to go. Either way, you at apple are making a profit. I would rather purchase this as a perpetual license that way I’m not worrying about what goes out of my account considering COST OF LIVING here in the UK which apple don’t have to worry about. Logic for the iPad is a great tool especially for someone like me who is blind and a composer. Moving to the iPad Pro is a huge help, but until Apple listens to customers and gives us the option of a perpetual license for logic, Final Cut Pro, etc, I won’t be wasting time or money on subscription models. I gave Waves Audio and others the push when they started this nonsense, let’s hope you’re not another I ditch.
Blows away also rans, but is there a bug?
No other IOS DAW comes close to Logic, whatever the fan boys say. The recent updates (mainly for those with M series iPads) adds features such as ‘smart’ session players. The instruments are very good, but need user input to stop them sounding artificial. I am keen to hear more, such as a Session Lead Electic Guitar. Unfortunately I’ve had to take a star away due to a bug. On a 4th Gen iPad Pro with half a gig of storage, using just 6 instances of Session Players, 3 of them frozen STILL results in the project failing to reload until the iPad is rebooted. This is not good enough. Finally, subscription as currently priced is reasonable, but so many users would jump at an option to buy the app outright, for something less than the cost of Logic for Mac. Or perhaps an option to buy the Mac version and get the IOS version free. Is anyone at Apple listening?
Absolutely incredible
At long last a feature rich IOS DAW that can see a project through from start to finish without any so called advance feature tweaking from the desktop environment. You don’t have to go that far back in time to appreciate the outstanding achievement’s from time served recording engineers that had to work with minimal spec recording gear, yet still achieve award winning results. Logic Pro for iPad has now given aspiring studio engineers and recording enthusiasts an array of advanced tools to promote their skills without restriction. The low subscription based model from Apple should also see a regular income stream to support sustainable software development and support. Perhaps the historic trend of one time payments for Apps on this platform has resulted in the observed demise of some seriously excellent DAW products that now receive little in the way of updates. Here’s hoping Logic Pro for iPad will continue to reap the benefits of the subscription based model in continued addition of advanced features.
