From an early age Dean had always had a keen interest in computers and technology. He could often be found dismantling his parents’ old computers to find out how they worked, putting them back together and getting then to work in all sorts of weird ways. After getting numerous secondary and tertiary qualifications, he got a job with a local IT business in Dunsborough. He then spent the next 10 years increasing his knowledge, honing his skills and learning new skills in business and IT infrastructure.
In 2016 Dean stepped outside of his comfort zone to start his own company, Elliotts Tech. The primary goal of Dean’s new venture was to manage businesses’ total IT needs. As cyber threats have been steadily increasing and attacks are becoming significantly more common, and devastating, protecting Elliotts Tech’s customers from these threats has become a priority focus for Dean and his team. Now most days are now spent researching risks, cyber protections and the ever-changing business IT best practices. Dean and his expertly qualified technicians then distil this down into byte-size information that is relevant, pertinent and can be easily understood by their clients.
As a partner, father and owner of a growing business, Dean’s free time is at a premium. Where possible, he does enjoy spending time participating in charity car rallies, camping, and getting out bush with his motorbike or 4x4.

Tom Woolley is a tech-obsessed accountant gone serial entrepreneur. After graduating with his MBA in Accounting from Columbia and over 15 years in corporate finance technology for pharmaceuticals and oil and gas, Tom established Today CFO during the early days of the cloud accounting trend.
In 2019, Today CFO made a dramatic shift from working entirely in the traditional office environment to working remotely which presented a new set of unique challenges. Securing client data while allowing employees to work remote is a huge challenge for the financial industry.
Finding and implementing the right solution for his own firm and clients revealed a huge gap in expectation versus reality for accounting firm owners. What started as an immediate critical need quickly became an obsession that ignited a passion for internet security that led to the creation of Today Cybersecurity. A firm established with the mission of securing online financial firms and their clients from online predators with the right technology and training without the need for massive enterprise infrastructure or expensive IT staff.
Tom now spends his time spreading awareness on how important cybersecurity is to protect your firm and client data from falling into hackers' hands. How firms can reduce costs while meeting their legal obligations. Why skipping due diligence can result in a cyber-attack that destroys your reputation and causes over 90% of firms to close their doors in less than 3 months.
Woodrow Cannon is a computer extraordinaire. He grew up with computers and was programming from the age of 8 and just understands how they operate. After graduating from a fledgling IT program at the University of Alabama in 1994, he worked in the field from 1994 to 2001. He started Thought Streams, Inc. in 2001 in an effort to better utilize his knowledge. Since then he has helped countless companies maximize performance and improve security through more robust and efficient IT networking. Over the years he has been on the forefront of a rapidly expanding computer world. Recently he saw the necessity of enhanced cyber security and changed the focus of Thought Streams to include this growing need in an internet connected world.
These days he spends his time much like Superman. By day he defends the weak and weary against the evils of cyber shenanigans. By night, he reads sci-fi novels to his 2 daughters and often enjoys a cocktail on the porch with his wife and neighbors. Instead of leaping tall buildings, he hurdles Legos and dog toys. He lives outside of Atlanta in Peachtree City, Georgia and can be reached at wcannon@thoughtstreams.com
Matthew Jay is the Chief Operating Officer at PC Techware, Inc., a systems integration company specializing in Cyber Security and Risk Management. Some may think 5 years in an industry isn’t enough to have stakes in a book like this. But, in an industry that is experiencing a drastic transformation driven by cybercrime that’s grown 10 to 12 times within a 12-month period, 5 years is enough time for some products to see its birth and obsolescence.
Matthew is no stranger to harnessing disruptive technologies and understands the importance of driving forward to anticipate new problems instead of admiring what’s in the rearview mirror. Matthew enjoys sharing his insights on today’s cyber threat landscape to small business owners, professional groups, and local chamber members to create a smarter and more aware workforce. His expertise is rounded out by a close network of family and friends operating in similar technology firms that support small businesses all the way up to the United States Army and Navy.
Matthew has been the humble recipient of a few professional mentors over the course of his career, who have contributed to his leadership skillset, deep experience in lean manufacturing operations, business development of an e-commerce platform, and technology sales within a $22 billion international corporation. In turn, Matthew is passionate about mentoring high school and college students by giving them insight and inspiration as they transition from bookbag to briefcase.
Troy Solis, founder, and President of SOL-I.S. Technology Solutions started his career in technology as a radar and radio electronics technician in the US Navy. After eight years of service, he joined the medical device industry, where his talent for technology advanced him from electronics technician to roles in IT management and consulting. After a decade in staff positions, while consulting as a side business, he launched SOL-I.S. Technology Solutions in 2009. The company started as an IT Managed Services Provider (MSP) and then pivoted the service offerings to Cybersecurity Solutions Provider in 2019.

Preferred Computer Services has been in business since 1991 and provides solutions for businesses to improve their cybersecurity posture through consulting and solution integrations. Business owners should focus on growing their business and not have to worry about the technology aspect. That is where PCS comes in. Things are constantly changing in the world today, especially in the area of Cyber. Cybercrime is way up and continues to go up every day. Everyone thinks today’s hacker is someone in a hoodie sitting in a basement. The reality is that in today’s world, there are companies dedicated to hacking that include sales departments, marketing departments, and even 24/7 tech support. Their goal is to trick you into giving them your personal information or even transferring money to them. Patrick has over 16 years of experience in the IT industry and focuses on helping businesses and their owners understand that today’s risk is real, it is high, but it is also addressable. Businesses are having to close their doors every day due to cybercrime. Don’t let your business become a statistic.
